Ray Franz book's available in audio format! Crisis of Consciencs / Christian Freedom
by Indian Larry ineverybody may already know this but i just happened to discover that crisis of conscience and in search of christian freedom are now available as audio books.
they are not legal copies as commentary press did not make a audio version, however someone took the time to read every page of both books into a good mike.
the sound quality is good and they are organized well for a iphone or ipod.

"They have to keep having these parts on the meeting because NO ONE is listening to them !"
....I've said this before and I'll say it again, I cherish the day when one of my elders said to me at the Hall that the Org says we should not visit any social sites and should only visit the "official" WT sanction site. That same evening I went home wondering what it was that I was supposed to not see and the rest is history. Thank you elder!

"Imagine if a car salesman said he had the best car in the world and that you will love it, just hand over your life and it's yours to drive ... Oh yeah and you re not allowed to read or hear anyone else's opinion of the car. Would you buy it?"
I too must sneak at both my lurking and posting activities with my wife, who got very upset one day when she found me lurking. To this day she does not know that I sometimes post. Speaking of cars, I love cars and she knows it, So, I like the example I gave her re my feelings on the WT. Imagine you spent your life loving BMWs (WT) and thought they were the greatest/best/safest cars in the world. You would trust your life and your kids lives with this car. Then one day you get a job working on the BMW assembly line (Bethel) or at your neighborhood BMW dealer (Congregation) and from this you find out that for years BMW has been knowlingly installing cheap faulty brake lines in their vehicles and refused to fix them. These were internal problems that the average customer (R&F JWs) would not notice as the brakes worked fine until failures happened. Your illusions over the BMW car would be forever changed/crushed and you could no longer drive (or even ride in one) without of both fear, anger and disgust.

A BIG change the Watchtower will have to face up to . . .
by nicolaou in1995 drew a line of demarcation.
the doctrinal rudder of freddie franz was gone, the sacred cow of the 1914-generation had been slaughtered and the internet had arrived!.
it will take a while longer but the time is coming when pre-1995 old timers like the gentleman below will be an impotent force within the society - if that hasn't happened already.

"thousands of the post-1995 generation of tech savvy, independently minded born-ins will be doing the same thing - and leaving!"
Thankfully and proudly I count myself among the above group of older (60 years young) JWs who are tech savvy and not scared to pursue the real truth. I came "in" at 10 years of age, so I have 50 years of JW "experiences" to draw from. And I saw firsthand the lead up to 1975.
Now it's funny how we tend to be stereotyped as I will never forget the young elder who thought he was talking to a dumb stupid older one when he admonished me that the Society strongly warns us about looking at only its approved web site and to avoid any other website having to do with JWs. And, he said in such a manner that he seemed convinced that his words of wisdom to this "old" guy would be just wise enough for me to immediately obey and not look.
That could not be futher from the truth, as I immediately wondered to myself what is it I am not supposed to see, went home from the KH, found this site and the rest is, as they say, history. Since then I've always had this desire to go back and personally thank this elder for his help in getting me to leave.

Was The Internet The Clincher For You To Mentally Leave The Organization?
by minimus ini think it was for me.. i knew a lot of the history of the bible students, russell, rutherford and the "old light".
.
once i could see all of the overwhelming evidence right in front of my eyes, there was no ignoring the reality..

At the risk of bragging I am proud to say I helped bring the Internet to the masses. I have been in telecom for over 20 years and have made internet connectivity a major goal of my rewarding career. Last year alone I helped facilitate over 300 new fiber broadband builds across the US and Canada. As I make this investment in time and energy it is not for the money (as the WTS promotes and might think) but for the shear satisfaction that, in doing this work, I am giving people greater access to information that could improve their lives. Long live the Internet!

If I hear one more person say...
by iamwhoiam in"even if we don't agree with new light, we should ask ourselves, where else would we go?
without this organization, we would never have learned the basic bible truths we have today.".
this was stated twice in commenting and once by our conductor during our wt study yesterday.

"After being awakened to reality, as well as experiencing a nervous breakdown from having the wool ripped from my eyes, I secretly explored everything else. So now you know how much pain im causing myself by doing something I don't believe in (eg. service)"
Happened/happening to me too, nervious breakdown and all. Thank goodness not a MS. I feel for you.

What really ended the book study in private homes?
by Alfred init's been over 3 years since the book study in private homes was discontinued and some jws are still scratching their heads over it.
although a letter was read to all congregations explaining that "book study night" would now be "family worship night", there was still much speculation among jws as to the real reason behind this decision (the great tribulation was about to start, jehovah was simplifying the lives of jws, to lessen the burden of poor jws who had no money for gas, etc.)...
but as we all know, decisions like these from the gb invariably have some ulterior motive behind it... and discussion boards such as this one usually finds a way to dig up the truth for all to see... but after reading several threads on this subject, i'm really not sure we've uncovered all the facts yet.... so i have to ask... what do you believe really ended the book study in private homes?

"It is kind of interesting that the WTBTS is planting the seeds of its own destruction, when it makes the JW experience less friendly and personal..... I really have to admire the Brain Trust in Brooklyn: they couldn't be doing a better job of destroying the WTBTS then if they intentionally planned to."
So true!

When Did You Stop Saying Amen
by BroMac infor prayers from the platform.. i've "said my own" for a few years now if i find i cant agree with what the brother is praying about.
i'm constantly amazed by the same old repetitive ramblings and just nonsense that some brothers feel is an acceptable way to pray for a congregation.. once i've finished saying my own i'll listen again to what they are going on about, and round and round they go.
the worse ones are those who can hardly speak english and i cant understand a word thats said apart from the "...feffull slive... bless bruders sis not here..." blah blah.. and everyone has gone through the public talk prayer.

I make it a point to always listen closely to the prayers. If it's about good things such as love, thanking god for life and for his forgiveness I always say "Amen" but if there is praise given to the GB in any way I make it a point NOT so say "Amen". It's that simple.
